The easy to use Sidekick protects you from bacteria, chemicals and heavy metals.. Large sediment is blocked with the cotton pre-filter membrane, increasing the longevity of the filter. Nasty chemicals and heavy metals are adsorbed by the Activated Carbon Filter. Activated Carbon removes lead, iron, cadmium, nickel, chromium, and zinc along with chlorine, pesticides, herbicides, gasoline, and diesel fuel. Once the pre-filter and Activated Carbon filters have reached their life expectancy of 50 gallons, they can simply be replaced with the extra end cap filter which is included. Finally, the Ultrafiltration Hollow Fiber removes 99.999% of bacteria. Hollow Fiber is made of dozens of tubes that have microscopic holes (0.1 microns) that don’t allow bacteria to pass through, while allowing clean water through by size exclusion technology.
Regardless, if you are running on the trail or backcountry skiing the lightweight design of the Sidekick won’t slow you down as it only weighs 1 ounce. It can fit perfectly into your pocket, day pack, or emergency kit. No matter where you go it’s always better to take your Sidekick with you.

I love the idea of a "straw" for the walk home if our west coast city is struck by a large earthquake. I'm delighted that HydroBlu has figured out how to filter out chemicals and heavy metals. Very important in an urban setting!

HydroBlu 3 Stage Water...
This water filter is the most compact filter(I use the clip to attach to my undershirt when I'm at work, because it's so unobtrusive)that I have ever used. The pre filter, filter membrane and carbon filter truly is a wonder to behold. This makes my 6th filter I've purchased, im sure it won't be my last.

Convenient, lightweight, portable...
It weighs almost nothing, stores in the side pocket on hiking pants or shorts or right next to my water bottle on my pack easy use design just pop the protective cover and use like a straw unlike those time consuming pump filters and much lighter than a pump filter.

Side kick 3- stage straws
I have a bought a total of 6 of these straws for emergency bag water procurement. I team each straw with an “Aqua Pouch” from survivalresourses.com. I just need to find some water, fill pouch, and use the SIDE KICK STRAW to drink SAFELY. The whole package folds up neatly to approx. 7” long x 1-1/2” wide x 3/4” tall. Just fold up pouch and slide straw inside, secure with a couple of rubber bands or ranger bands. Whole kit is approx. $24. Inexpensive and reliable, clean drinking water
